The City of Archdale

Imagine this: You’re driving I-85, maybe up from Charlotte or over from Raleigh, and you see the sign for Exit 111, Archdale. Your driving app says you’ve arrived in “arc”dale and maybe you stop for gas or a quick snack right off the highway. But head just a mile or two down the road and you’ll find this quiet southern city – with Quaker roots, originally known as Bush Hill – is a city of progress. Growing like a weed, the City of Archdale is home to 12,000 residents and an optimal location for business growth. Nestled perfectly on the southeastern edge of the Triad, it’s a only a 20-minute drive to the hustle and bustle of Greensboro and a quick jaunt into High Point – the Home Furnishings Capital of the WorldTM and home to High Point University.  Archdale is a remarkable paradox of economic growth and a slower pace of life. Folks who live here know… you can find everything you need within a 5-minute drive. But even without a vintage downtown business district, Archdale’s small-town vibe can’t be mistaken. Kids riding their bikes. Yard sales on Saturday mornings. People you don’t even know will wave when you drive by. If you grab a bite at Archdale Soda Shop (get the hot dog special) or Pioneer Family Restaurant (where the steaks are butchered on-site and the buffet is a mile long), the locals will fill you in on all the fun things to see and do.

The Jewel of Archdale: Creekside Park

Creekside Park

Creekside Park has over three miles of paved trails that wind alongside Muddy Creek, perfect for long, leisurely walks. The park is one of only 4 North Carolina locations on the international parkrun and hosts a free community 5k every Saturday morning. Creekside has lighted tennis courts (which are also marked for pickleball, for you pickleball enthusiasts), a basketball court, and sand volleyball courts.  Playgrounds for the kids? Absolutely, and they’ll love it. Dog park for the pups? Yes, that too! If you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at the Orienteering Course or play the 18-hole Disc Golf Course. If you’d rather play with clubs than discs, Archdale has you covered…

18 Holes, Championship Style: Holly Ridge Golf Links

Holly Ridge Golf Links

Designed by Jim Bivens, Holly Ridge Golf Links is 18 holes of pure, rolling, green North Carolina beauty. Locally owned, the course is open to the public, and the clubhouse features an indoor simulator and game facility. Weekend nights are perfect for sitting on the patio after a round, watching the sunset, and listening to live music. But what if you’re in the mood for something more adventurous? Archdale has that too…

Live Your Adventure: Kersey Valley Attractions

Kersey Valley Zipliner Girl

Decades ago, Kersey Valley was THE haunted house to visit in October. Now, Kersey Valley Attractions has grown into one of the premier outdoor and adventure destinations in the region. Year-round activities include axe throwing, laser tag, ziplining, and escape rooms. Fall and winter bring seasonal activities like the Maize Adventure and Christmas Experience. And that haunted house? Yep, still scary and even better than ever – Spookywoods made Martha Stewart’s list of The 15 Best Halloween Destinations in the U.S. Come on over. We double-dog dare you.

Convenient Location, Friendly People

If we haven’t convinced you to visit just yet, there’s more. Archdale is easy to get to, right off the exits at north/south I-85 and east/west I-74. Three major airports are within a 90-minute drive, including Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO), only 25 minutes away. And six quality hotels (including your favorite rewards programs from Choice, IHG, Hilton, and Marriott) mean you'll sleep well after all those adventures. But the real reason to visit Archdale isn’t the convenience or even the attractions – it’s the feeling you get when a small town opens its arms and invites you to become part of the story, even if just for a weekend. By the time you head home, we guarantee you’ll have made some new friends. And, next time you visit, you can tell your driving app: “It’s pronounced ‘arch’dale.”
