Right in the center of North Carolina, roughly halfway between Raleigh and Charlotte, Randolph County is a place that just might surprise you. You might expect a sleepy rural area, but when you come visit, we promise you’ll leave having fallen a little bit in love.
The 11th largest county in the state, Randolph sits squarely in the Piedmont Triad, close enough to the conveniences of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem, but worlds away from the traffic and pace. The Blue Ridge Mountains are about 90 miles to the west. The Atlantic is 200 miles to the east. And right here, in between, is a place that feels genuinely like home.

Archdale
Don’t let the small-town vibe fool you. Archdale is a city of progress with big plans for growth. Creekside Park, with its miles of paved trails and weekly community 5k, is the jewel of the city. Outdoor adventures await at Kersey Valley Attractions and tee off both indoors and out at Holly Ridge Golf Links.
Asheboro
The county seat and largest city, Asheboro is the kind of place where Friday Night Lights are real, and downtown is alive with locally owned restaurants, craft breweries, and boutique shops. Home to the North Carolina Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Cone Health Zoo City SportsPlex, and the Randolph County Agricultural Center, Asheboro is an easy anchor for a weekend getaway.
Franklinville
For anyone who loves local history, Franklinville is a true gem. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this textile town sits along the Deep River, where the Deep River Rail Trail follows an old railroad bed through layers of natural and cultural history. Hike up to Faith Rock for a spectacular and historic view.
Liberty
Heritage and progress share equal footing in this growing town. Catch a show at the Liberty Showcase Theater, grab diner fare, shop for antiques, or pay a visit to Sandy Creek Primitive Baptist Church, the oldest surviving religious structure in Randolph County, founded in 1755.
Rameur
Apple picking. Fishing on a 127-acre lake. Riverside hiking. Antique shops. And a sprawling countryside that happens to make a picture-perfect backdrop for outdoor weddings. Ramseur is, quite simply, a place where family and friends meet, and where the pace of life is exactly as relaxed as it should be.
Randleman
Randleman is the hometown of stock car racing royalty, but there’s more to Randleman than racing. Randleman Lake offers over 100 miles of scenic shoreline for boating, fishing, and kayaking, and downtown’s Commerce Square Park hosts festivals and events all year long.
Seagrove
The Handmade Pottery Capital of the United States, this small town is home to more than 100 individual potters and a pottery tradition that stretches back over 230 years. Drive NC 705, known as “Pottery Highway,” and explore dozens of studios at your own pace.
Staley
Staley is a quiet rural treasure. Wide-open farmland makes it one of Randolph County’s most sought-after event destinations, with stunning outdoor wedding venues like The Roost at Butler Farm and The Hive at Sandy Creek.
Trinity
Trinity is home to Linbrook Heritage Estate, a stunning Greek Revival property filled with antiques, a 26-tractor agricultural museum, and sweeping views of the Uwharrie Mountains. And for wine tasting with a view, visit Zimmerman Vineyards, the first commercial vineyard in Randolph County.
