Country Roads, Take Me Home
Looking for a day outdoors? Ramseur has lots of choices!
The Deep River State Trail has two trailheads that start in Ramseur (east access and west access), winding through magnificent hardwood forests with glimpses of water and even some local historical sites along the way.
Into fishing or boating? Head to the Kermit G. Pell Water-Based Recreation Facility (or Ramseur Lake if you’re a local). Opened in 1984, the facility has a 127-acre lake and a 9-acre park with picnic shelters, restroom facilities, and a playground. You can bring your own boat (only motors under 10 horsepower allowed), or you can rent a town-owned boat. Anyone over 16 does need a valid N.C. fishing license to fish. And if you forgot your tackle box, don’t worry. The Bait Shop has everything you need. Plan accordingly though! Ramseur Lake is only open March-November.
And right near Ramseur’s historic downtown, visit the Allen H. Leonard Memorial Park, a great outdoor spot for the entire family. Open all year, the park has ball fields, tennis courts, a basketball court, playground, picnic shelters and plenty of parking.

Did You Know?
Ramseur Lake hosts the annual Barry T. Richardson Youth Fishing Tournament. Every August, the tournament is open to children 5-15 with prizes in 2 age groups. The best part? It’s free!

Just outside town, Millstone Creek Orchards is where family memories are made. This working orchard welcomes guests to pick their own fruit – apples, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, pumpkins, and summer vegetables. And don’t leave without trying their famous apple cider slushies and seasonal apple cider donuts at the Apple Barn Country Store.
Browsing around in town? Make a day of it! Start with an espresso or cold brew from Ro Coffee Co. Hit the local antique shops – Magnolia’s on Main, Blue Horseshoe Antiques and Collectibles, Josie B’s Riverside Mercantile – for vintage finds and nostalgic treasures. And grab lunch or dinner at Shortstop’s Burgers and Shakes or Ramseur Country Diner.
With its sprawling rural countryside, Ramseur is a perfect picturesque setting for an outdoor wedding or event, and there are plenty of venues to choose from Harvest House and Catering, on a 130-acre working farm, has indoor and outdoor event spaces, and provides a turnkey experience with onsite décor and catering. The Moser Barn is a spectacular outdoor setting for a farm-inspired wedding (or that family Christmas card photo!). And, Vintage Oaks Farm is an ideal venue for a barn-themed wedding, shower, or family reunion.
