Night 3 in Asheboro

Welcome riders! We are so excited that you'll be making the journey to our area on night 3 of your ride from Lake Lure to Fort Fisher. As the sun sets over the Uwharrie Mountains, our community is ready to roll out the red carpet with friendly faces, great food, and a small town charm you won’t forget. Whether you’re wanting to relax, explore, or simply enjoy a well earned evening off the bike, Asheboro and Randolph County is happy to have you.

 

Basecamp: Asheboro-Randolph YMCA

The Asheboro-Randolph YMCA is where you cruise in to after your 60 mile journey from Kannapolis to Asheboro. Here will be the main hub for the night. All YMCA facilities will be open for you to use including showers, fitness classes and a variety of other offerings for the evening. Outside there will be a food trucks for you to get some great local food as well as a 360 degree photobooth from Spin Me Round Productions to help remember your time with us in Randolph County. We, the Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau, will host a table to answer any questions you may have as well as share some special surprises for we have for you.

If you're up for venturing out, we will offer 2 separate trips for you to take to further explore our area! Read about them below.

 

Excursion A: Downtown Asheboro

DTA Sunset

Located just two miles from the YMCA, Downtown Asheboro offers one of two excursions you can take for the night. Here you will find a revitalized downtown center with shops and restaurants of all kinds. Below you will find a list of all restaurants open on Tuesday Night. Click on their individual links to learn more about them and to get exact hours.

There will be a GhostWalk Tour taking place in Downtown Asheboro Tuesday, October 7th. During this tour there will be a gunshot reenactment in front of the Magnolia 23 Restaurant. If you happen to hear the shot, please do not panic as this is a planned event and not a threat.

 

Excursion B: Seagrove

Seagrove Pottery Eck McCannless Wheel

Seagrove, home to the largest collection of working potters in the country, will also be available to visit from basecamp. A shuttle will take you from the YMCA to one of two locations.

From 1pm - 5pm, you will be able to visit the North Carolina Pottery Center. Here you can experience the wonders of the pottery capital of the world with various showcases and exhibits.  

 After 5 pm, The General Wine and Brew will be your stop. Here you can enjoy a food truck with adult beverages while watching a local potter demonstrate the pottery making process. Learn more about Seagrove and the Seagrove Potters from the link here
