Few things in life are sure to inspire a spontaneous smile quite like a sunflower field in full bloom. Considered a symbolism of admiration and loyalty, the sunflower comes in 70 species of both annual and perennial plants that comprise the genus Helianthus. The common sunflower was first grown in gardens in the Americas and if you agree that a field of them is sure to make you smile from ear to ear, then how about a 15-acre field of sunflowers in North Carolina?

The Kersey Valley Sunflower Extravaganza takes place beginning each year in September.
