ASHEBORO-Due to predictions of icy weather and dangerous road conditions, the North Carolina Zoo will be closed to the public Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31.
With temperatures predicted to dip below freezing and mixtures of freezing rain, snow and sleet expected to arrive in the Piedmont Friday evening, zoo officials are concerned for the safety and comfort of visitors and opted to close the park.
Zoo employees will report to work Saturday and Sunday under Inclement Weather Plan A.
The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly E. Perdue, Governor.
