Asheboro, NC - The original artworks of local artist Cori Cagle will be featured in a solo art exhibit at Colorshow Gallery located at 151 N. Fayetteville Street in Asheboro. Cagle's latest paintings are the focus of the show, entitled "We Built Another World," but some of her lively jewelry creations will also be included. "My main inspiration for the show has been landscapes and birds with a strong focus on layering paint and building up surface textures," says Cagle. The array of paintings show off Cagle's colorful and organic style and grant the viewer a glimpse into Cagle's "other world;" one that's inhabited by quirky birds and a variety of funky, yet noble trees.

Art was important to Cagle from an early age and she is grateful to her parents for supporting and encouraging her talents. After receiving a BFA in Painting and Drawing from ECU, Cagle pursued various artistic endeavors, but has been teaching art at Hopewell Elementary for over ten years. She loves inspiring creativity in her students and helping them foster an overall love for the arts. Cagle creative teaches workshops for both children and adults in the local community, as well.

The opening reception for "We Built Another World" will be Friday, April 20 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Colorshow Gallery in Asheboro. The show will run until May 11. For more information please email colorshowgallery@gmail.com.
