Law Enforcement & First Responders Appreciation Day honors the individuals who make our county a safe place for citizens to live; guests to visit. As a thank you for their service, all active-duty law enforcement and first responders are invited to tour the I-73/74 Visitor Centers on Friday, October 20, 2017, in Randolph County Tourism Development Authority’s inaugural Law Enforcement & First Responders Appreciation Day event.

The Heart of NC Visitors Bureau, along with I-73/74 Visitor Centers staff, will honor these individuals from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with special lettered T-shirts, designed by The WEARHouse in downtown Asheboro, distributed to the first 50 active-duty participants who stop by with proper identification. The T-shirts include the “Visit the Heart of North Carolina” logo with “Thank You” lettered across the back and the hashtag #JustSayThanks on the sleeves. Adding this well-known social media campaign will encourage citizens and visitors to show their respect and appreciation to the individuals who risk their lives daily in these stressful jobs. This outreach effort will also help familiarize Visitor Centers’ staff with agencies in Randolph County that can be of assistance during a crisis or when pertinent safety measures are needed. The event will start at the Southbound Visitor Center where participants will pick up their T-shirts; and will end at the Northbound Visitor Center where they will be served lunch catered by Snyder Farms Restaurant in Sophia.

The I-73/74 Visitor Centers are located one mile south of Exit 61 in Seagrove at 4390 Interstate 73/74 (Southbound) and 4393 Interstate 73/74 (Northbound). Built-in 2010 to serve travelers on I-73/74, the Visitor Centers feature lovely landscaped grounds, picnic tables, grills, and walking trails. The centers offer visitor information for Archdale, Asheboro, Franklinville, Liberty, Ramseur, Randleman, Seagrove, Staley, and Trinity, brochures and other collateral materials of interest from across Randolph County and North Carolina, and NCDOT roadmaps. Additional buildings include snack vending and public restrooms which are open daily 24/7.
