Asheboro, NC - The Randolph Arts Guild will showcase the work of artist and illustrator John Czop during the month of February.  The exhibition will be on display in the Randolph Arts Guild’s Sara Smith Self Gallery located at 123 Sunset Ave. in downtown Asheboro.  The exhibition will begin with an opening reception on Tuesday, February 3rd from 5:30 - 7:30pm and will on display until February 24th.  

John Czop describes himself as “Chicago born and bred” but early in his career he traveled east to NY/NJ to attend the Joe Kubert School of Graphic art. While at school John broke into the comic book industry by doing background inks on early 1990's DC comic books. Czop also served a short stint inking for Innovation Comics. After graduation John started working at Marvel Comics, drawing the Punisher, Spider-Woman, X-Men, Iron Man etc. He has worked for Marvel on and off for the past 20+ years penciling, inking, and creating covers. John has also freelanced for DC comics, Valiant Comics, and many other comic companies. 

He work as an illustrator and artist extends far beyond the world of comics. He has worked extensively in the trading card industry for Topps, Fleer, & Rittenhouse, Dynamite, Inkworks to name a few and has a great deal of experience with print magazine work, animated feature backgrounds, production design, story boarding, and advertising. He has worked on dozens of licensed properties from Marvel, DC, Star Trek, Stargate, and Battlestar Galactica, to Family Guy, Hellboy, the NFL, NBA, MLB and everything in-between. 

John will be exhibiting samples of his sketches, finished illustrations, as well as his fine art. 

John now resides in Asheboro and balances his time by both working at his good friend’s restaurant, Bia's Gourmet Hardware and drawing and illustrating for many of the same companies he worked. 

The opening reception as well as the exhibition are both free and open to the public.  The Randolph Arts Guild is open Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm and Saturday from 10am - 2pm.  For more information please call 336-629-0399.
