Seagrove, NC - On January 16th, join us at the North Carolina Pottery Center for a slide lecture by Seagrove potter Daniel Johnston!

Daniel is a wood-firing potter who has been making pots for more than 20 years and is increasingly well known for his large jars. During his presentation, Daniel will talk about his work and travels. His travels have taken him to England, where he worked with earthenware potter Clive Bowen, and Thailand to study large jar making techniques. Daniel also apprenticed with Mark Hewitt, and now continues to bring on apprentices at his Pottery in Seagrove. Daniel has also taught workshops around the country, including the Penland School of Craft, and was recently chosen as a McCandless Scholar at Eastern Michigan University.

Come on out and join us for a fun evening! A potluck at 7 pm will begin the evening’s events, followed by Daniel’s talk at 8 pm. For more information, call the center at (336)873-8430. This ongoing lecture series is facilitated by Josh Floyd, the Artist-in-Residence at the Pottery Center.
