Liberty, NC — There's momentum growing in a small Piedmont-Triad town that's been quiet for years.
Once a thriving furniture manufacturing community, Liberty—like so many other small towns across the south—was quiet for a long time.
"During the '70s, we lost a lot of industries here,” said Liberty Chamber of Commerce president Don Herndon. “We lost our furniture and textile businesses, so everyone had to start driving out to work, and to eat and shop."
But now there's a resurence. New restaurants, like Mark Rutzen's Smokehouse Bistro, breathing new life into Liberty.
