Asheboro, NC – On June 7th tie your shoelaces and hit the ground running for the North Carolina Zoo’s Run Wild 5K. You may hear the roar of our African lions or howling of the red wolves along the way!

The race will take place at the N.C. Zoo. It is sponsored by Chick-Fil-A and Health Source of Asheboro. Participants will run on both paved and gravel pathways featuring rolling hills similar to the foothills of North Carolina. Chip timing will be utilized to provide accurate individual times. The course will begin at the North America Connector road, continuing into the zoo through the African and North American continents and concluding at Solar Point. At the end of the race there will be refreshments and festivities.

Please register by May 18th to guarantee a T-shirt! Registration price for adults is $25, after May 18th it’s $30. For youth (under 18) it’s $20, after May 18th it goes up to $25.

Awards will be given to the overall top three male and female finishers as well as the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: 12 and under; 13-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and older.

After the race there will be a Kid’s Fun Run. It will be at Solar Point. Every kid gets a prize! Money from the 5K goes towards zoo keeper training.

● 8:45 a.m. – FREE Kids’ Fun Run at Solar Point

● 8:55 a.m. – Awards ceremony
