It’s a new era for Richard Petty Motorsports.
The iconic No. 43 will have a new driver for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season in Bubba Wallace, an exuberant 24-year-old who will also be the division’s first full-time black driver in 45 years. The organization also hopes he is the driver who will steer Petty back to championship contention.
But the team will also have a new manufacturer in Chevrolet, providing Wallace a fleet of the brand-new Cup Series Camaro ZL1s, which will be engineered at a new shop on the Richard Childress Motorsports campus in Welcome, North Carolina.
Each of those changes took place during the offseason and under the watchful eyes of the King, Richard Petty himself.
