ASHEBORO N.C. – Visitors will hear wolf howls and tales at the North Carolina Zoo Saturday Oct. 18 when the park holds the third of its four October festivals “Howl-o-ween” part of a week-long celebration of Wolf Awareness Week. Events will include face painting in the North America Plaza from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.; wolf-howling contests at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. also in the North America Plaza; and the opportunity for visitors to meet keepers at 1:30 p.m. at the red-wolf exhibit.There will also be an information station at the red-wolf exhibit from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. where volunteers will answer questions about these rare and endangered animals.On both Saturday Oct.25 & Sunday Oct. 26 the zoo will conclude its October festivals with the annual Boo at the Zoo featuring two magical days of family entertainment with games treats costume parades and contests each day. This two-day activity will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.All the weekend fun is included in the regular zoo admission of 10 for adults 8 for seniors 62+ and 6 for children ages 2-12.All 2008 zoo special events are made possible in part through sponsorship by Pepsi.The zoo is an agency of the N.C.
