ASHEBORO, NC – The Design Department at the North Carolina Zoo has been honored by Graphic Design USA magazine for the conservation park’s map – the first time the guide map has been recognized in the competition in the Zoo’s history.
The map, which guests utilize to navigate through the 500-acre natural environment, was presented a prestigious national award certificate in the 2017 American INHO-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- USE Design Awards, the magazine’s first and best-known in-house awards program.
According to the Graphic Design USA magazine, more than 6,000 entries were submitted to this year’s competition, with only approximately 15 percent chosen to receive award certificates.
A business-to-business source for design professionals, Graphic Design USA hosts multiple competitions each year to determine the best in class in a variety of design categories.
The North Carolina Zoo’s map packs an incredible amount of information into a relatively small space. N.C. Zoo Designers work throughout the year to create – and update – an informative map that guides guests through the expansive Zoo, while also providing a fun and readable experience. The map features eye-popping graphics, colorful photographs, park regulations, descriptive information about restaurants, attractions, animal habitats and seasonal specials.
