ASHEBORO-The North Carolina Zoo will remain closed to the public through Wednesday, Feb.3, in the wake of last weekend's winter storm.

Zoo personnel have concentrated on providing care for the animal collection, which has reduced the staff available to clear ice and snow from visitor walkways, parking lots and service roads, said Zoo Director David Jones.

Zoo employees will report to work Wednesday under Inclement Weather Plan A. The decision on Thursday's operations will be made Wednesday afternoon.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly E. Perdue, Governor.
