Asheboro, NC — Due to continuing cold temperatures and remnants of Tuesday’s snow storm that remain on walkways, the North Carolina Zoo will be closed to the public for the fourth consecutive day on Friday, January 31.

While temperatures broke the freezing mark Thursday afternoon, they are predicted to drop into the teens Thursday night and will keep zoo walkways and service roads hazardous Friday morning. Employees are asked to follow the zoo’s adverse weather policy on Friday. A decision on weekend operations will be made Friday afternoon.

For information on daily operational status, the public can call the zoo’s toll-free number at 1-800-488-0444 or visit the website at www.nczoo.org.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, John E. Skvarla, III, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
