ASHEBORO - Due to predictions of more frozen precipitation, the North Carolina Zoo will remain closed to the public on Friday, Feb. 5.

Latest weather forecasts for the area call for a mixture of snow and freezing rain beginning Friday morning and continuing into Saturday. The zoo has already been closed since January 30 as the result of a winter storm that left walkways and service roads hazardous for visitors.

Zoo employees will report to work Friday under Inclement Weather Plan A. The decision on weekend operations will be made Friday afternoon.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly E. Perdue, Governor.
