ASHEBORO, NC — A report from the U.S. Tourism Association shows Randolph County’s tourism industry is growing. Tammy O’Kelley, Randolph County Tourism Development Authority director, said the state will issue a more detailed report in October. However based on current information, O’Kelley said the top five visited attractions in Randolph County in 2014 were:
1. N.C. Zoo
At over 2,000 acres, it is the largest walk-through, natural habitat zoo in the world, and one of only two state-owned zoos in the United States. It is located south of Asheboro.
