Asheboro, NC – Make Father’s Day weekend more interesting and take advantage of the three bear exhibits at the North Carolina Zoo by celebrating Bear Necessities Day on Saturday, June 14th, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the zoo’s North America region.

Kids are invited to bring their favorite stuffed bear to a Teddy Bear Clinic where veterinarians will do a wellness check and re-stitch bears in need of repairs. Learn safe camping tips at a smart camping demo outside the Grizzly Bear exhibit.

Meet a zoo keeper and ask questions about bears. Zoo keeper talks include: Black Bear exhibit 11 a.m., Polar Bear exhibit 12 p.m. and Grizzly Bear exhibit 1:30 p.m. Musicians will be at the zoo performing live music.

In honor of Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15th, bring dad to connect with nature and roam through more than 500 acres of exhibits at the zoo. He will save $2 off his admission with any paid admission. Visitors can find the coupon on the zoo’s website at www.nczoo.org. They can present the coupon to admissions by printing it out or having the coupon on their phone.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, John E. Skvarla, III, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
