ASHEBORO, NC – The R.J. Reynolds Forest Aviary will re-open Tuesday, August 9 to Zoo guests.  The Aviary has been closed due to HVAC/cooling system issues. Named by USA Today as one of the top exhibits in American Zoo’s, the Aviary features dozens of exotic birds and more than 3000 Tropical plants. This weekend, guests will still have the opportunity to enjoy the nearly 2000 animals on exhibit, Air Hike, the 23 obstacle ropes course and Zoofari as well as the Claws And Jaws Special Event. The North Carolina Zoo is open seven days a week from 9 a. m. until 5 p.m. for the remainder of the season with over 5 miles of walking trails allowing guests to explore animals from North America and Africa as well as conservation messages from both continents.
