SEAGROVE, NC - On Friday and Saturday, February 11th and 12th, the shops of the Busbee Road stretch of the Seagrove pottery area will jointly be hosting a Valentines Day event. Potters and other craftspeople along Busbee Road will offer special items for the two days.
"This is the first time we have hosted this as a group," says potter Mary Farrell of Westmoore Pottery. "We'll all be offering an alternative for those who prefer something longer lasting than the traditional gift of chocolate!"
With eleven participating businesses, there'll be a great variety of pottery and other crafts. Featured items will be appropriate to the February holiday. Refreshments will be offered at a number of the places, so visitors can nibble as they proceed down the road.
Ben Owen Pottery will feature Chinese Red pottery for this Valentine's weekend.
Chris Luther Pottery will have large vases, bottle, teapots, and other items in multi-layered colors. In addition, Chris will be giving demonstrations on the 12th.
Westmoore Pottery will offer an assortment of pottery with various heart motifs and will also offer sets of handblown glass wine goblets in various styles. The shop will be decorated for the Valentines holiday, and homemade refreshments will be served both days.
Mill Creek Forge will have hooks, hangers, and other items with a heart theme, all made by blacksmith Jerry Darnell.
Hickory Hill Pottery will highlight Mauve and Mauve and White glazes, and also cake pans. Refreshments will be served as well.
O'Quinn Pottery will have heart-shaped bowls and a fresh load of pottery. They will offer light refreshments to visitors.
Cady Clayworks will feature heart-themed clay wall pieces.
"Original" Owens Pottery will offer their signature Owens Red glaze and a fresh supply of dinnerware.
Moore Pots Pottery will have lots of animals - goats, elephants, chickens, lions - as well as face jugs, vases, and jars.
