Cat Collier is a visual artist that lives and works in Chattanooga, TN. Though she’s never had formal training beyond high school, her evolution as an artist has developed through the last 15 years of making work. She enjoys and embraces the struggles of the creative process, battling both subject matter and materials. Often Cat’s work is a merger of collage and painting, through which the viewer sees the world through her lense, lense that is highly influenced by bright bold colors. This use of color is complemented by her use of line quality, choosing to free hand elements to garner an aesthetic can’t be achieved through tracing or projection.
Collier as prepared a new body of work for this exhibition titled: “Symbol and Code”. She will also be exhibiting a number of her “succulent” pieces. For a preview of her work one can visit her website/blog http://phantomcrimes.blogspot.com.
