ASHEBORO, NC –The North Carolina Zoo will have a Welcome Home Celebration for the reopening of its gorilla exhibit on Thursday, Aug. 27. To make room for a larger gorilla troop, the zoo closed the exhibit to expand off exhibit holding areas. While the gorillas are being introduced to their newly renovated habitat, visitors may be able to catch a sneak peek.

The exhibit features the zoo’s three-year old male gorillas Bomassa and Apollo, along with their mothers Jamani and Olympia. New additions include adult male, Mosuba; adult female, Rosie along with six-year old male, Hadari.

Next week more details on the zoo’s Welcome Home Celebration for the gorillas will be provided.

The North Carolina Zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Donald R. van der Vaart, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
