Asheboro, NC - Due to the recent snow and continuing cold temperatures the North Carolina Zoo will remain closed to the public for the third consecutive day on Thursday, January 30,
The zoo has been closed due to the wintry weather since Tuesday when up to two inches of snow fell in the Asheboro area. Temperatures remained below freezing Wednesday with wind chills in the single digits. Due to snow and ice on public walkways, the park will remain closed through Thursday. Employees are asked to follow the zoo's adverse weather policy again on Thursday. A decision on Friday operations will be made Thursday afternoon.
