Asheboro, NC - The Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau is sponsoring its first ever Christmas in the Heart of North Carolina Art Contest. The contest is open to North Carolina students in grades one through 12. All entries must be submitted or delivered to the Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau (HNCVB) located inside the Randolph County Historic Courthouse, 145-B Worth St, Asheboro, NC 27203. Entries submitted by mail must be postmarked by Friday, October 28, 2011; artwork that is being delivered must be received by 4:30 PM on Friday, October 28, 2011. Artwork must be original and pertain to the theme "Christmas in the Heart of North Carolina".
The purpose of the contest is to convey images of the Christmas/holiday season in the Heart of North Carolina. Ideas should be chosen from the HNCVB destination website at http://www.HeartofNorthCarolina.com - in the Things to Do section, with choices including Arts & Entertainment, Distinctive Shopping, Golf, History & Heritage Landmarks, Local Dining, Museums & Attractions, Outdoor Fun, Parks & Recreation, Seagrove Pottery, and Sports & Racing.
The winner, to be announced on Thursday, November 10, 2011, will receive a one year family membership to the North Carolina Zoo to include one behind-the-scenes tour (total value $100); and their artwork will be used on the Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau 2011 Christmas Card that is distributed locally, regionally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. The winning entry and top four runners up will be recognized at the November 16, 2011 Randolph County Tourism Development Authority Board of Directors Meeting.
