Posted on 02/03/14

Asheboro, NC – The 2014 Official Heart of North Carolina Visitors Guide is now available at the Visitors Bureau in downtown Asheboro, and the I-73/74 Visitor Centers in Seagrove. This comprehensive guide contains valuable information on what to see and do while visiting Randolph County, including an “About the Area” section and a detailed listing of festivals and events, local dining, distinctive shopping, museums and attractions, outdoor fun, arts and entertainment, history and heritage, golf, sports and racing, parks and recreation, vineyards and wineries, and Seagrove pottery.

The cover of this year’s guide features “Asheboro, Home of the North Carolina Zoo,” with a welcome letter by zoo director, Dr. David Jones. The zoo will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2014 with many special events throughout the park and the Asheboro area.

There are two special tear-off maps inside the guide including a “Things to Do” area map and “Seagrove Area Potteries” detailed map showing the pottery shops and galleries, museums, and the visitor centers locations. The Seagrove Pottery section also includes a full color directory of more than 65 shops and galleries that are open to the public and a Seagrove historical perspective.

The visitors guide is produced annually by the Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau to provide information to travelers and as a fulfillment piece for relocation requests; and to serve as a tourism information resource for the local community. The HNCVB will provide a brochure stand and guides at no cost to any business wishing to display them. The guides are particularly helpful for anyone planning a wedding, family reunion, sports or recreational tournament, corporate meeting or other event.

Guides can be picked up at the HNCVB anytime Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, located inside the 1909 Randolph County Courthouse building at 145 Worth Street in downtown Asheboro; or Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 pm at either of the I-73/74 Visitor Centers located on Hwy 220 one mile south of Seagrove. Requests can also be made directly to LuLane Long, Visitor Services Coordinator at (336) 626-0364, ext. 201; or by email to [email protected]
