The Randolph Arts Guild hosts Pysanky Egg Craft Class with the McFetters
Posted on 02/13/14Mother/daughter team, Karen and Grace McFetters are attracted to eggs. Not just any kind of eggs -- hand dyed Ukranian Pysanky eggs. They are a 2000 year old craft loaded with color and symbols. These two ladies make them year around using whatever eggs they can source. The craft uses candles to heat wax that is drawn over the eggs. The eggs are then dyed. The McFetters creations have been feature on TV and newspapers all over. Karen leads several "heritage crafting" opportunities at the Randolph Arts Guild. She was the 2013 Fall Festival Heritage Village Coordinator, teaches a variety of Guild classes for youth as well as adults, and hosts weekly knitting sessions. Karen and Grace return to the Guild for several classes in 2014 including a home school Pysanky Class and an advanced two-day Pysanky Class that incorporates the use of larger fowl eggs. These classes will be offered in the next quarter.
