FREE Attractions Offered During Visitor Appreciation Day at the NC Zoo

Posted on 07/16/14

Asheboro, NC – Certain attractions which would normally cost North Carolina Zoo visitors an extra $11 through individual tickets will be FREE on Sunday, July 20th, during Visitor Appreciation Day at the N.C. Zoo.

FREE attractions on Visitor Appreciation Day include: the movie Rio the 4-D Experience, the zoo’s 36 foot Endangered Species Carousel and the exhibit “Bugs: An Epic Adventure” which has 13 animatronic bugs nearly 20 feet high and live invertebrates. A rose hair tarantula, desert hairy scorpion and a hermit crab, none of which are natives of North Carolina, are just some of the invertebrates on display.

“Without our visitors there would not be a N.C. Zoo. People from all over the state visit the zoo year round. In an effort to thank everyone for their continued support throughout the zoo’s 40 years of existence, we offer Visitor Appreciation Day,” said Dr. David Jones, Director of the North Carolina Zoo.

The public is invited to take advantage of the FREE offer and allow the N.C. Zoo staff to say “thank you.”

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, John E. Skvarla, III, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
