Baby Baboon Born at the North Carolina Zoo

Asheboro, NC - Employees at the North Carolina Zoo are excited to announce another new addition to the zoo. On April 9th a baby baboon was born. Both mother and baby are on exhibit and doing well. The N.C. Zoo is home to the largest troop of hamadryas baboons in the country. There are 20 hamadryas baboons at the zoo. The gender of the baby baboon is unknown at this time.

Some other new additions at the zoo this year include an otter pup, three cougar kittens and a sitatunga.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, John E. Skvarla, III, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
