Asheboro, NC -- The Randolph Arts Guild (RAG) offers the "Wonder Of Wire -- Home Decor Edition" wire crafting class with North Carolina artist, Michelle Jarrett.  Michelle's art incorporates "up-cycling" a term that denotes transforming unused materials into products of better quality.  For this class Michelle will show students how to make several projects including a hanging wire lantern, stained glass heart sun catcher, and a wire tree table top sculpture.  All materials provided.  Students are to bring work gloves, a lunch, and may also bring their favorite jewelry tools.  This class requires average hand strength.  The class meets Saturday, March 15 from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Moring Arts Center located at 123 Sunset Avenue in downtown Asheboro.  Payment and completed registration are required for enrollment.  The enrollment deadline is Wednesday, March 5.  Wonder of Wire -- Home Decor Edition costs $60 for RAG members, $70 for non-members.  For more information contact the Randolph Arts Guild at (336) 629-0399.

Bio:
I have always loved making something out of nothing and using what is on hand to create. It started out with cooking and has morphed into crafting. Its sounds as if the two don’t go hand in hand, but they do. I’m working with my hands in a creative way to produce things I love, that is where I have found my passion. It so exciting to work with wire because it is so versatile. Wire is so easy to work with, affordable and forgiving. You can connect pieces together whether it is an old rusty washer, a piece of sea glass or a gemstone. With wire you can embellish in a decorative way and make it into something very unique. I continue to explore the possibilities of objects I can wire into something new and creative in jewelry design as well as crafting my “upcycled artwork”. -- Michelle Jarrett
