NC Zoo Weekend Event Features Benefits of Snakes

Asheboro, NC - North Carolina Zoo keepers will present programs on the benefits and identification of snakes during a series of special events for park visitors Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19.

The event," Save Our Snakes," will feature a Wheel-of-Snake Trivia game at the Cypress Swamp exhibit and opportunities for visitors to meet and talk to keepers there, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

At the Streamside exhibit, visitors can learn how to identify North Carolina snakes and learn the differences between venomous and non-venomous snakes here. Keepers will also be available there to meet and talk to visitors, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

At a display at the Sonora Desert exhibit, guests can learn about ongoing snake telemetry (tracking) research conducted on zoo grounds. Visitors can also meet and talk to keepers there, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

All activities will be held in the North America region and will take place during regular zoo hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and are included in the regular zoo admission of $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+) and $8 for children (ages 2-12).

Coca-Cola is the signature sponsor for all zoo special events this year.
