NC Zoo celebrates 'Black Bears & Bees'

ASHEBORO, NC - It's all about bears and bees at the North Carolina Zoo Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19, when the park holds the third of four June weekend celebrations of bears and bees, when guests can explore life as a bear and catch the buzz on bees.

Saturday's event will feature black bears and will be highlighted with a keeper talk at 1:30 p.m. at the black bear exhibit. Additionally, there will be an information station with educational displays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., also at the exhibit.

Also on Saturday, kids can make a Father's Day card for their "Papa Bear" at the Honey Bee Garden, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Sunday, bring dad to the zoo with an online discount and receive $2 off one admission with one paid general admission. Go to www.nczoo.org to print the coupon and to get more information on all the June weekend activities at the zoo.

Additionally, the new ocelot kittens, born in April, are on exhibit at the Sonora Desert.

Coca-Cola is the signature sponsor for all zoo special events this year.
