Posted on 06/30/09

The Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that our Annual Christmas on Sunset event has been recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of their Top 20 Events for December 2009.

The Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Events publication receives extensive exposure in print media, web, and television and radio in the U.S. and Canada. Over 800 newspapers, magazines, radio & television stations, AAA's and others receive the Top 20 listings. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution prints the Top 20 Events as a regular quarterly feature of its travel section, and the Top 20 Events has recently been featured on the New Orleans-based radio show "Travel Talk Radio," just to name a few. The Top 20 Events are also listed on the Southeast Tourism Society web site www.southeasttourism.org and on their consumer web site www.escapetothesoutheast.com. The Top 20 Events pages are consistently among the most visited pages on the STS sites.

George Gusler, President of the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce, stated. "We are very proud that our Annual Christmas on Sunset event has received this honor.  Although, the Chamber's Downtown Development Committee conceived the event, it has grown to be the tremendous success it is only through the support and combined efforts of the Chamber, the Randolph Arts Guild, The Heart of North Carolina Tourism Development Authority and certainly the City of Asheboro.  The corporation of these agencies and the overwhelming support of the community make Christmas on Sunset one of the most enjoyable family experiences of the season."   We invite everyone to join us this year on Sunset Avenue in Downtown Asheboro from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and be a part of a wonderful old time family Christmas tradition.  The streets will be closed to allow for folks to walk around with their family and friends, the shops will be decorated and open, there will carolers, cider, a special nativity story and horse drawn carriage and wagon rides through Downtown Asheboro and most important, Santa and his elves will be present with gifts for the children and it is all free!  So plan now the join us on December 11 in downtown Asheboro.
