Asheboro, NC — On Friday, June 19, customers may once again enjoy a beer in the Four Saints Brewing Company taproom in downtown Asheboro.

After much deliberation and implementation of new safety procedures, the brewery welcomes back customers for on-site consumption. Four Saints closed its taproom March 17 in accordance with Governor Cooper’s executive order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

“We’re thankful that our taproom means so much to this community, and we look forward to opening it back up,” says Joel McClosky, Four Saints co-owner, and CEO. “During a time when the community needs togetherness and connectedness, we can safely offer that.”

The brewery marks the reopening with two special-release beers. “Appreciated” is a cherry gose that recognizes teachers who have gone above and beyond to connect with students. “Essential,” a pale ale, brings awareness to healthcare workers, first responders, grocery store clerks, and others who have remained on the job. Local illustrator Rich Powell designed the beer can labels, depicting an “appreciated” teacher and an “essential” worker.

Since March 17, the brewery has sold to-go beer only. It has implemented at-home delivery for the Asheboro area and shipping throughout North Carolina and select states.

“We are not a company that has knee-jerk reactions,” McClosky says. “Over the past few weeks, we have taken some time to make sure we understand what we need to do and how we need to do it, and we now think the time is right to reopen.”

New taproom safety protocols include a single entrance/exit door adjacent to Bicentennial Park, a hostess coordinating customer entry, limited socially distant seating, and mask requirements for staff members and customers when not seated. Four Saints staff members have completed the Count On Me NC training developed by state public health officials and the #NCBeer Pledge introduced by The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild.

Taproom hours remain limited: Tuesday-Friday, 4-8 p.m.; Saturday, 1-8 p.m.; Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Taproom events, such as live music, trivia and music bingo, remain on hold and will be added back gradually. Customers may continue to purchase beer to go by visiting the taproom or ordering online for walk-in or curbside pickup.
