Tourism Development Authority Hosts 2nd Annual “Operation Thank You” Event

Posted on 10/03/18

Seagrove, NC - The Heart of NC Visitors Bureau & I-73/74 Visitor Centers “Operation Thank You” event is held annually to raise awareness, support, celebrate, honor, and most importantly say “Thank You” to Randolph County’s First Responders for the difficult job they do every day by putting their lives on the line to serve and protect our County and our way of life. This year’s event is particularly poignant considering the recent impact of Hurricane Florence in Randolph County.

As a thank you for their service, all active-duty law enforcement, and first responders are invited to the I-73/74 Visitor Centers on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm for Randolph County Tourism Development Authority’s second annual Operation Thank You event. Special-edition T-shirts, designed and produced by Manor House Graphics and The WEARHouse in Asheboro, will be distributed to the first 50 active-duty participants in uniform or with proper identification who stop at the I-73/74 Visitor Center – Southbound. This year’s T-shirt includes the “Visit the Heart of North Carolina” logo with “Operation Thank You” lettered across the back, and the hashtags #TourismCares and #JustSayThanks. Complimentary lunch catered by Snyder Farms Restaurant in Sophia will be served at I-73/74 Visitor Center – Northbound starting at 11:00 am.

The I-73/74 Visitor Centers are located one mile south of Exit 61 in Seagrove at 4390 Interstate 73/74 – Southbound and 4393 Interstate 73/74 – Northbound. Built in 2010 to serve travelers on I-73/74, the Visitor Centers feature lovely landscaped grounds, picnic tables, grills, and walking trails. The centers offer visitor information for Archdale, Asheboro, Franklinville, Liberty, Ramseur, Randleman, Seagrove, Staley, and Trinity, brochures and other collateral materials of interest from across Randolph County and North Carolina, and NCDOT road maps. Additional buildings include snack vending and public restrooms which are open daily 24/7.
