ASHEBORO, NC – The Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau and I-73/74 Visitor Centers are pleased to announce our first annual “Tourism Night with the Asheboro Copperheads,” this Saturday, July 23rd at Historic McCrary Ballpark in Asheboro. The first 100 employees from any of Randolph County’s tourism and hospitality partner businesses will receive free entrance to the game with proof of eligibility (including a name tag, business card, or another record of employment); and a voucher for one free hot dog and drink.

All attendees to Saturday night’s game will be eligible to win one of seven prizes that will be given away by drawings held at the end of each inning, including a “grand prize” drawing at the end of the seventh inning of the game. To enter the drawings, stop by our Visit the Heart of North Carolina tent on your way in and pick up your lucky ticket.

The Asheboro Copperheads are a collegiate, wooden-bat baseball team that competes during the summer in the Coastal Plain League. The league features teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Along with the Asheboro High School and Post 45 baseball teams, the Copperheads play their home games at McCrary Park, near downtown Asheboro. The ballpark was constructed in 1946 by McCrary Mills and was the previous home to the McCrary Eagles industrial league team from 1946 to 1957. Features include a synthetic turf infield, concession stand, and gift shop.

The game on Saturday starts at 6:00 p.m. when the Copperheads take on the Gastonia Grizzlies. McCrary Ballpark is located at 138 Southway Road in Asheboro. For more information on Copperheads Baseball and other attractions in the Heart of North Carolina, please contact our Visitor Services Coordinator by phone at 336-626-0364.
