Asheboro, NC - The Randolph Arts Guild will be highlighting the work of two different artists in the Sara Smith Self Gallery during the month of October, Woodworker Scott Kestel and fused glass artist Michael Harmon. The exhibition begins with an opening reception on Tuesday, October 6th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm in RAG’s Sara Smith Self Gallery at 123 Sunset Avenue in downtown Asheboro, NC. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on display until Tuesday, October 27th and will close with a Lunch and Learn at noon on the 27th.

Scott Kestel is a designer and craftsman who focuses on using locally sourced sustainable reclaimed lumber, from old barn wood and framing timbers to salvaged vintage industrial objects.  Scott first found a love of woodworking from watching his father as a kid growing up outside of Chicago. Kestel now lives and works out of his home studio Archdale NC, and his pieces range from the very primitive to sleek into industrial, traditional and modern. More of his work can be seen at www.brandmojointeriors.com.

Michael Harmon was raised in Stanly Co. and has been a physical therapist for twenty five years. Harmon has always been an intense lover of art but it wasn’t until in 2004 when a friend started doing stained glass and then fused glass that he himself began to experiment with the art form. Harmon is for the most part self-educated in this medium and has been actively producing work since 2005.

Scott Kestel and Michael Harmon’s work will be on display until Tuesday Oct. 27th and the exhibition is free and open to the public. The Randolph Arts Guild is open Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm and Saturday from 10am - 2pm.  For more information please call 336-629-0399.
