NC Zoo Officials Announce Volunteer of the Year

Asheboro, NC — More than 300 people spent nearly 40,000 hours volunteering at the North Carolina Zoo last year. On March 10th, officials at the zoo had the N.C. Zoo Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet to honor those who donated their time.

Neil Bezuyen who lives in Lexington was named Volunteer of the Year. He volunteered nearly 800 hours taking care of orphaned, injured and sick animals at the N.C. Zoo’s Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Neil has been a volunteer at the zoo for three years. Several other volunteers were also honored for their service. Margaret Wright of Asheboro was recognized for celebrating her 30th year volunteering.
