NC Zoo Partners with Biscuitville for DINOSAUR Appearances

Posted on 07/17/13

Asheboro, NC - The North Carolina Zoo has partnered with Biscuitville restaurants to promote the zoo's 2013 Dinosaurs exhibit.

Biscuitville will be a sponsor for the zoo's Dinosaur on the Loose campaign which features a traveling animatronic dinosaur making appearances at businesses, schools, sporting events and other locations around the Triad.

The 11-foot-long dinosaur Deinonychus will appear at various Biscuitville locations throughout the Triad on Thursdays from 7 to 9 a.m. beginning July 18 and continuing through October 17. Specific locations will be announced during that time period on the Two Guys Named Chris Show on Greensboro radio station WKRR-FM, Rock 92. The first 25 people to stop by during each appearance will receive a youth dinosaur T-Shirt and a pass to see the dinosaur exhibit at the N.C. Zoo.

Deinonychus, Greek for terrible claw, is an 11-foot long predator with large curved claws that roamed the Southwestern U.S. during the Cretaceous period and served as the model for the pack-hunting Velociraptors made famous in the film Jurrassic Park.

On loan from Billing Productions, a Texas company that is an international leader in animatronic dinosaur exhibits, Deinonychus is representing 15 other life-like robotic creatures featured in the second successful year of Dinosaurs at the State Zoo. Nearly 240,000 people, representing more than 35 percent of zoo visitors, toured the exhibit in 2012. Dinosaur on the Loose is also being made possible through Asheboro's Wayne Thomas Chevrolet, which is providing a brand new Chevy pickup as the dinosaur's transport vehicle.

Deinoychus will make its first Biscuitville appearance on Thursday, July 18, at the restaurant on North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro and will be at the Wendover Avenue location in Greensboro on July 25. Future locations on the schedule include Greensboro's Carolina Theatre Kids Club, the town of Denton Festival on September 14, the Lexington Barbecue Festival and the Asheboro Fall Festival. Contact the zoo to request an appearance.
