Asheboro, NC - The North Carolina Zoo's Horticulture Division will hold a public plant sale Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the zoo's Africa Entrance. Inclement-weather date is Sept. 22.

The sale will feature a large assortment of perennials, including hardy bananas and hardy orchids; shrubs and grasses, and moth orchids.

Proceeds from the sale will go to help the Tooro Botanical Garden in Fort Portal, Uganda. For several years, the N.C. Zoo has partnered with the Tooro Garden in plant conservation and education programs in that African nation.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Dee A. Freeman, Secretary; Beverly E. Perdue, Governor.
