ASHEBORO, NC - Circa Gallery will host an exhibit for local North Carolina artist and painter Susan Harrell, along with jewelry artist Mamie Wilkins. The show will be a display of the artists latest works. Susan's work has a "must see it to believe it" quality. Mamie's unique jewelry is a way to bring the past into the present.
The opening reception which will be held Friday November 11, 2011 from 5 p.m to 8 p.m at Circa Gallery located at 150 Sunset Avenue. Make plans to visit for appetizers, refreshments and live music with Steve Cain.

Susan Harrell is an award winning artist from Asheboro, North Carolina. She is self taught and began her study in her early twenties by replicating masters works from the renaissance era. In 2009, Susan painted her first original oil painting. Her interest expanded to include landscapes, seascapes, figurative and still life. She is also known for her large, exterior mural work, several of which are in Asheboro's downtown. Susan incorporates her love for color, interesting perspectives, and careful attention to the play of light. These attributes combined with photo-realism give Susan her distinctive style.

Combining vintage pieces that have been passionately hunted and gathered with interesting modern elements, Cockamamie Jewelry represents a convergence of yesterday and today. Mamie Wilkins lovingly creates each piece using found antiques such as old watch fobs, lockets, Italian micromosaics, beautiful old buttons and other wonderful forgotten loved items. The found item is resurrected after being combined with beautiful precious and semi-precious stones, gorgeous glass beads, chain, or whatever compliments the piece.

Mamie's love for jewelry was established very early in life as her mom was quite the vintage jewelry collector. A habit that could just as easily have put Mamie on a talk show as a hoarder, instead led to the creation of beautiful jewelry pieces to be handed down and treasured again and again.

The Artists will be on hand to meet and greet at the opening reception which will be held Friday, November 11, 2011 from 5 p.m to 8 p.m at Circa Gallery, located at 150 Sunset Avenue. This event is free and the public is invited to attend. The show will be on display November 11, 2011 through December 6, 2011.
