NC Zoo Aviary, Pavilion exhibits temporarily close for repairs

Posted on 02/09/11

ASHEBORO, NC- The North Carolina Zoo will temporarily close its Forest Aviary exhibit, Feb. 21-25 for routine winter maintenance. The Africa Pavilion exhibit, which closed last week, also for routine maintenance, will reopen Feb. 19.

The closings affect only the two exhibits, and all other zoo exhibits and facilities will remain open as usual.
The yearly closings are necessary so that zoo staff can prune large trees and complete renovation and construction projects within and around the two popular indoor exhibits.

The African Pavilion exhibit will additionally undergo construction for the upcoming "Swamp Ghosts," an exhibit of white alligators scheduled to open in April.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly Eaves Perdue, Governor.
