Downtown streets to close for Asheboro Chili Cook-Off

ASHEBORO, NC (April 13, 2009) - Asheboro city officials have announced street closings for the Asheboro Chili Cookoff that will be held on Saturday.

The intersection of Sunset Avenue, Fayetteville Street and Worth Street will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday until midnight Saturday. The section between Worth and Cox streets will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday through midnight on Saturday.

Nearly 50 chili cooks are expected to participate in the event that will be held from 1-10 p.m. It will include a Kids Zone, live entertainment, Hot Head Contest at 3 p.m., a beer tent, food and beverage and free chili tastings. The winner of the cookoff will be announced at 5 p.m. The raffle drawing will be held at 10 p.m.
