Rhinoleap Productions Production of To Kill A Mockingbird
Posted on 10/22/18Asheboro, NC – RhinoLeap Productions is a new professional theater company comprised of artists from all over the United States who are committed to performing and teaching specifically in North Carolina. Most of our company members are from and/or have received training in North Carolina, and since RhinoLeap’s founding, we have hired current students and alumni from Appalachian University, Elon University, UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-School of the Arts, Eastern Carolina University, Wake Forest University, Greensboro College and Guilford Technical Community College.
Simultaneously with our productions, the professional actors we hire also lead educational residencies in North Carolina Public High Schools in order to bring high school students into direct contact with our experienced, working professionals. We have already held residencies in Alamance, Forsyth, Mecklenburg, Randolph, Polk and Wake Counties. During To Kill A Mockingbird, our professional actors are also leading an eight-week residency at Asheboro High School. RhinoLeap’s innovative residency structure exposes students to a wide range of skills, including puppetry, music, movement, and writing. Through the exploration of those disciplines, RhinoLeap’s professional actors guide the creation of original, student-generated projects. The projects will then be given public performances in which our actors perform alongside the students. That structure is unique. Each of our actors and every single student work together, create together, and perform together. Public performances for the Asheboro High School Residency will be held at the Sunset Theatre on November 17th at 12 pm and November 18th at 5 pm.
ABOUT TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
In 1930s Macomb, Alabama, Scout and Jem Finch fill their quiet days with adventures shaped by childhood and small-town gossip. But their playful world begins to fall apart once their father, Atticus, Macomb’s beloved lawyer, decides to take on the trial of Tom Robinson, a young black farmhand unjustly accused of a terrible crime. As the town is torn apart by the trial, Scout and Jem’s lives are changed forever.
To Kill A Mockingbird will run November 8th to 18th at the beautiful, historic Sunset Theatre in downtown Asheboro. Tickets are available at www.rhinoleap.com or by calling 800-838-3006. This production features professional actors from all over the United States who have come to Asheboro, NC to work side-by-side with members of the community and college students currently training in North Carolina theater programs. The professional actors are Carl Bryant, Chance Carroll, Nicole Hodges, Michael Kramer, and Michael Anthony Williams. The members of the Asheboro community are Peter Finnegan, Peggy Kilburn, Sabine Langer, Jim Langer, Jane Ledwell-Gant, Clayton Martin, Philip Shore, Dana Thames, Isaac Thames, Chris Osteen, Tom Osteen, and Benny Williams. The current college students studying theater are Lily Wieland from Wake Forest University and Henson Milam and Briana Middleton from University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
To Kill A Mockingbird will be directed by RhinoLeap Artistic Director Jeremy Skidmore. He has directed or produced all over the United States as well as Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Jeremy has an MBA from American University and a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

If you are a high school or college student living in Randolph County you can attend any performance for free! Simply arrive at the box office with your student ID at least 30 minutes before the performance, and you will be given a free ticket. We reserve 150 balcony tickets per performance for high school and college students.
