ASHEBORO, NC – Experience the North Carolina Zoo in a whole new way by volunteering. The zoo is actively recruiting volunteers, reports Volunteer Services Coordinator Toy Lambeth.

“Volunteering is an exciting and unique way to explore your interests while helping the zoo,” says Lambeth. “Our volunteers are essential in sharing information about the zoo’s plants and animals and inspiring guests to make a difference in the conservation of wildlife and wild places. Volunteers take an ordinary visit and turn it into something extraordinary!” North Carolina Zoo volunteers serve nearly 40,000 hours annually, devoting their time, skills, knowledge and expertise to serving as the frontline faces of the zoo. Volunteers greet guests, assist with special events, plant and maintain gardens, answer phones, serve as Giraffe Deck attendants, care for injured and orphaned animals at the zoo’s wildlife center, and more.

North Carolina Zoo volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience. Youth ages 12-15 may volunteer in most positions along with a parent or legal guardian, and independently from age 16.
