Asheboro, NC – Soar into Mother’s Day weekend by attending Birds & Blooms at the North Carolina Zoo on Saturday.

Zoo visitors can meet zookeepers and educators while learning about the importance of habitat restoration for birds. Guests can enjoy crafts and bird related games throughout the zoo.

In honor of Mother’s Day, which is Sunday, people can bring their moms to enjoy the more than 500 acres of blooming flowers at the zoo. Patrons who mention the zoo’s Mother’s Day coupon at the admission gate will save $2 on her admission with one paid general admission.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to own a piece of the zoo’s horticulture collection at a bargain. More than 20 species of plants will be on sale and most of them will cost less than $10. The spring plant sale is on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., in the Africa region’s parking lot.

The North Carolina Zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Donald R. van der Vaart, Secretary; Pat McCrory, Governor.
