North Carolina Pottery Center Receives John W. and Anna H. Hanes Foundation Grant
Posted on 03/26/15Seagrove, NC - The North Carolina Pottery Center in Seagrove will be receiving a $45,000 grant from The John W. and Anna H. Hanes Foundation to be used toward continued funding of the executive director position.
Located in Winston-Salem, NC, the Hanes Foundation "has always been interested in improving the life of the citizens of North Carolina" through grants for "charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes."
Over the past couple of years, the North Carolina Pottery Center has been successful in building traction and starting to convert that traction to momentum with the addition of an educational program manager/project coordinator and the restarting of the artist-in-residence program, as well as a successful ongoing collaboration with East Carolina University's ceramics program. Increased educational activities are a noticeable and noteworthy enhancement of the center's outreach and represent a natural growth in terms of programming that the center is able to offer to visitors of all ages, as well as other potters.
Lindsey Lambert, NCPC executive director, notes "On behalf of the North Carolina Pottery Center board and myself, I would like to express our sincere thanks to the board of the Hanes Foundation for their acknowledgment of what we are working to accomplish here at the center. The grant funding from the Hanes Foundation will allow us to maintain stability and continuity at the level that oversees, in conjunction with the board, not only the running, but also the future direction, of the center."
Lambert adds, "Our mission here at the North Carolina Pottery Center is to promote awareness and appreciation of the history, heritage and ongoing tradition of pottery in North Carolina through educational programs, public services, and great exhibitions, permanent and temporary. We encourage people to come visit us, learn more about this quintessential North Carolina tradition and our state's potters past and present, and then enjoy visiting our potters across the state."
The North Carolina Pottery Center is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm. The North Carolina Pottery Center, which is a nonprofit, charges a small admission fee to help it better fulfill its mission and serve our guests.
Exhibitions are made possible through the generosity of our membership, the Mary and Elliott Wood Foundation, the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, the Windgate Charitable Foundation, and the John W. and Anna H. Hanes Foundation. This project was supported by the N.C.
