City Councilwoman Katie Snuggs will talk about her experience during the Civil Rights era in Asheboro. Ms. Snuggs was a leader in integration struggles in Asheboro. She was arrested for participating in sit-ins at Hop’s BBQ Restaurant and the Little Castle Café in 1964. Ms. Snuggs, the first African American woman (and second African American) elected to Asheboro City Council, is retired from the Asheboro Water and Sewer Maintenance Department. She is a graduate of Central School and NC A&T State University.
