NC Food Truck State Championship Comes to Randleman

Randleman, NC - Officials with the City of Randleman and the Randleman Chamber of Commerce announce North Carolina’s first official competition for food trucks to be held June 20 and 21 in Randleman’s new Commerce Square development in downtown Randleman, NC. The vision of city leaders and chamber executives has proven immeasurable in bringing this event to life. The North Carolina Food Truck State Championship will feature gourmet food trucks from across the state in cooperation with the Central Carolina Food Truck Alliance from Greensboro, NC. A panel of judges will discern which gourmet delights walk away with awards on Saturday, June 21. A people’s choice will also be awarded.

As a kick off to summer, the event starts Friday, June 20 with the grand opening of the new Farmer’s Market made possible by a grant from the Timken Foundation. Performances by local groups, cornhole and  kids activities will fill the day. Along with the food trucks, Fish the Magish takes stage at 4pm and the band Bantum Rooster 8pm to 10pm.

Saturday’s events begin with the food truck competition at noon with awards later that evening. The Farmer’s Market will be opening that morning again with activities through the day. Ramblin’ in Randleman, a classic car cruise in will also coincide with the event from 3pm to 7 pm. The Caribbean sounds of the steel drum band Sensory Expressions will bring in the first day of summer at 5pm to 7:30pm and the beach music flair of Eric and the Chilltones closing out the evening 8pm to 10 pm. The Randleman Chamber of Commerce will be giving away a Carnival cruise that evening as well.

Food trucks have become a staple in many cities across the nation. Not only do they bring variety to the plate but also revenue. Many local restaurants show up to a 30% increase in business with various food truck events. Officials with the North Carolina Food Truck State Championship state that this is not only good for Randleman and Randolph County but North Carolina in general. Randleman is centered in the heart of North Carolina minutes from Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem. An hour and a half from Raleigh and Charlotte and two to three hours from the mountains or coast – Randleman truly is “in the center of it all.”
